Will Crewe help us again? Kenny Lunt is holding out at Crewe and Dario Gradi is only hopeful that he will stay put.

Crewe captain and midfielder, Kenny Lunt has still to commit himself to a future with recently relegated Crewe Alexandra. Dario Gradi would not stand in his way if he stood a real chance of first team football and remaining in the Championship.

‘He is here training with us and, as I have said before, the longer he doesn’t sign for anyone then the better chance we have,’ he Crewe Alex World in his Press Conference.

‘The offer we have made is a good one. He won’t be a pauper because he has signed for Crewe, and I think it will be good for him to stay here.’

However Dario also admitted that if the likes of Southampton, Palace and Wolves are knocking on Lunt’s door, then he would advise his player to stay in the Championship, as long as it seemed first team football was likely.

‘If Glenn Hoddle is telling Kenny that he wants him to play in central midfield in his first team next season at Wolves, then I have to turn around to him and advise Kenny that that is the best move for his career.’

Norwich City hasn’t been mentioned, but if a close enough eye was kept upon the team when the Dean Ashton episode was underway, there is every chance that the chance of repairing the hole in his midfiled might just have Nigel Worthington amongst those interested parties.
