Norwich Linked With Young Attacking Talent And A Big Name Defender

|

Norwich City have been linked today with Luxembourg international, Vincent Thill.

The 19-year-old attacking midfielder spent last season on-loan with small French club, Pau in the Championnat National (Division 3) from his parent club, Metz, where he scored 10 goals in 28 appearances.

Thill already has 21 caps for Luxembourg and is the youngest of the three Thill brothers to represent their country.

According to French media outlet, Soccer Link, both Norwich City and West Bromwich Albion have taken an interest in the young attacker, who is apparently out of contract this summer.

This sounds like a perfect fit for Norwich with a link to a promising young player who is out of contract and would fit the (wage) bill nicely.

He sounds like just the sort of player to interest the recruitment team and his regular involvement at international level arguably belies his lack of experience at a higher league level.

Another name linked with Norwich yesterday was Besiktas’ Croatian international defender, Domagoj Vida.

I read this story and decided that reports from Turkey of €10m fees were a little steep for City.

There’s been a lot of brouhaha this summer about the reported cost of some of the players linked to Norwich and I’m trying to use a little judgment on that to report, or not, whichever the case might be.

There are plenty of people who trot out the “I won’t believe it until the club announce it” line and if that’s you, fine, just buy a newspaper and read about it the day after if you’re that way inclined and best stay off social media too, it’ll only upset you.

Getting back to Vida, I figured that at age 30 and €10m I just couldn’t see it, so didn’t report it.

Today though, that decision looks even wiser with Turkish media outlet, Fanatik reporting that City have bid €10m but that this has been rejected and that Besiktas will only start talking at €20m!

Clearly this is all fanciful, with a good friend of mine describing the Turkish media in general last night, as being “about as reliable as an old French car.”

That made me smile – apologies if you like an old Citroen or a Renault or a Simca…
