Norwich Sign Young Midfield Playmaker

|

Norwich City have announced the signing of promising midfielder, William Hondermarck from Irish First Division team, Drogheda United.

The 18-year-old played the last half hour for the U23s last night in their 1-1 draw with Leicester and will travel with the U18s to face Preston tonight in the FA Youth Cup.

William started a trial with Norwich last November and has clearly impressed enough to persuade City to sign him. He was under professional terms at Drogheda, so the Irish side will be due a fee of some sort.

The lad was born in France but moved to Ireland aged five and is in the process of securing an Irish passport. He has apparently been in contact with Ireland’s U19 manager, Tom Mohan and recently spent time with the U19s.

It seems William has his head screwed on as he intends to complete his academic studies whilst continuing his football education at the same time.

Hondermarck told Canaries.co.uk: “Education is a big thing for me so I’m going to still be studying for my A-levels.

“I really want to settle into life here at Norwich and get a feel for the people here. But I want to focus on getting a good education as well.”

Welcome to Norwich, William.
