Norwich Striker Returns From Injury Only To Be Forced Off In U23 Outing

|

Carlton Morris returned from six months out of the game last night when he pulled on a yellow shirt again and crossed the white line as the Canaries’ U23s took on their Leicester counterparts at Colney in the Premier League Cup.

It was a youthful Norwich side who took the lead through Spencer Keller only for Admiral Muskwe (great name) to equalise on 34 minutes. That was the end of the scoring and the game ended as a draw.

The biggest moment of the night though, came just after the Leicester equaliser, when Morris was forced off after being on the receiving end of a tough tackle.

Hearts were in mouths but after the game, U23 Coach, David Wright moved to quell fears of a reoccurrence of the ACL injury that had kept Carlton on the sidelines.

“I think he’s alright,” Wright told the EDP.

“It’s an impact injury, a kick on the ankle, a bit of a naughty tackle I thought. His ankle’s swollen up, so more caution then anything else, so fingers crossed he’ll be fine.

“In front of me quite early in the game he had a tussle with a lad and he’s got tangled up with their boy, and he’s come out of that no problem. Sometimes when you come back from a long-term injury just little things like that happen and it just gives you a little boost of confidence that it will be okay.

“So he got a bit of time in his legs and hopefully that situation will have given him a little bit of confidence that actually his knee’s alright, it’s just unfortunate the tackle on him but I’m sure he’ll be fine.”

In the second half, City brought on William Hondermarck, who I think is a new signing from Drogheda United after a successful trial.

Fingers crossed for Carlton.

City XI: McCracken, Kamal, Barkarson, Jones, Richards (Hondermarck, 58), Payne, Keller, Scully, Morris (Barnes, 36), Spyrou, Coley
